Mitsubishi Airtrek with Evo 8 engine

The Airtrek was first introduced to the Japanese market on June 20, 2001, priced from ¥1.7–2.3 million. It offered a choice of either a 126 PS (93 kW) 4G63 2.0 L or a 139 PS (102 kW) 4G64 2.4 L GDI, mated to a standard INVECS-II 4-speed semi-automatic transmission. Both front- and four-wheel drive were available. The four-wheel drive version uses open differentials for the front and rear axles, with a viscous coupling unit for the center differential. A high performance model, using a detuned version of the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution's 4G63T 2.0 L I4 turbo, was introduced in 2002.[5] The engine produced 240 PS (180 kW) and 343 N·m (253 lb·ft), although in export markets the Outlander version's output was reduced to 202 PS (149 kW) and 303 N·m (223 lb·ft).

Nissan Skyline V36 VC 36 J50

The Skyline Sedan went on sale on November 11, 2006, with an update to the Skyline Coupe beginning in fall 2007. Early models included the 250GT, 250GT FOUR, and 350GT. It was first available only as a 4-door sedan in Japan and was also sold in the USA as the 2007 Infiniti G35. On May 13, 2008, Nissan announced that a convertible variant of the Infiniti G37 (U.S. Spec Skyline coupe) would be produced for the 2009 model year. The convertible is not available in Japan.

Toyota Soarer

In 1987, following the design freeze of the upcoming upscale Lexus division's UCF10 LS 400 (Celsior) flagship sedan due in 1989, Toyota commissioned its California design studio Calty to develop a new luxury coupe. In mid-1991, this vehicle debuted in the U.S. as the Lexus SC 300/400. In the same year, the third generation Toyota Soarer debuted in Japan as the Z30 series, replacing the Z20 series in that market. The Z30 series Soarer shared the body and key components with the Lexus SC, but featured different interior features, powertrain configurations, and other performance enhancements.

Nissan Skyline R32 Coupe and Sedan

The R32 Skyline debuted in May 1989. It was available as either a 2-door coupe or 4-door hardtop sedan, all other body styles were dropped. The R32 featured several versions of the RB-series straight-6 engines, which had improved heads (the twelve port inlet was gone) and used the ECCS (Electronically Concentrated Control System) injection system. Also available was a 1,800 cc 4-cylinder GXi model.

Nissan 180SX

The 180SX came in three major iterations: first was released in 1989, the second from 1991 to 1995, and the third that ended production in December 1998. S13 The first iteration of the 180SX came in two versions called Type I (standard type) and Type II (advanced type). Nissan's HICAS II four wheel steering system was optional only on the Type II 180SX. All versions had the CA18DET engine with 175 hp. The 5-speed manual and 4-speed automatic transmissions were available in all types.

Toyota Prius

In 1995, Toyota debuted a hybrid concept car at the Tokyo Motor Show, with testing following a year later. The first Prius, model NHW10, went on sale on December 10, 1997. It was available only in Japan, though it has been imported privately to at least the United Kingdom, Australia, and New Zealand.

Nissan Skyline R34

In May 1998, the EN34, HR34, ER34 and BNR34 marked the introduction of the more fuel-efficient and environmentally friendly RB25DET NEO engine. The RB20E engine was discontinued in the R34 base model (GT), and the RB20DE, after last being used in the R32 Skyline, was reintroduced in updated NEO guise. The R34 GT powered by the RB20DE NEO, coupled with a 5-speed gearbox, became the most fuel-efficient straight-6 Skyline to date (of any shape). The 4-speed automatic transmission available on some models in the previous two shapes were discontinued. In its place, Nissan produced a 4-speed Tiptronic transmission for all of the automatic versions (Except the base 2.0L, which has a standard 5-speed gearbox). Only the GT-T coupe variant was sold in New Zealand and Hong Kong from 1997 to 2000 respectively. They were the only two countries besides Japan that sold the R34 GT-T model Skylines new. All Japanese Nissan Prince Store locations that sold the Skyline were renamed Nissan Red Stage.

Mitsubishi FTO

GPX Limited Edition. In commemoration of its win at the Car of the Year Japan awards in 1994, Mitsubishi produced a Limited Edition of their GPX model. This model was finished in a unique dandelion yellow paint scheme with "'94–95 Japan Car of the Year" emblems on the car's c-pillar. It was also installed with a rear screen wash/wiper and limited slip differential as standard. 207 GPX Limited Edition models were produced during April 1995, 20 manuals and 187 autos. The Nakaya-Tune FTO was a limited edition pre-facelift model and was the only model that was capable of producing 147kW at then flywheel, translating to 130kW at the front wheels. This model was introduced in early 1997, and only 300 cars were sold and ever made. The car was tuned by Akihiko Nakaya, driver of an FTO in the All-Japan Grand Touring Car Championship in 1998–1999. The main differences over the standard model are a sports silencer, upgraded brake pads, carbon fibre lip spoiler, and upgraded suspension with Öhlins shock absorbers.

Toyota Aristo Sedan

Italdesign Giugiaro began the first design drawings of the GS 300 in 1988. The design firm aimed to produce a deluxe saloon which eschewed the numerous exterior features and detailing found on existing Japanese premium sedans, in favor of a more simplified, European-style appearance.The vehicle's exterior styling blended elements of the then-current Lexus LS flagship and SC performance coupe in a rounded, aerodynamic wedge-like shape which featured a high rear decklid and longer and wider proportions than rival vehicles. The exterior produced a drag coefficient of 0.31 Cd. Offered color schemes included single-tone bumper and body finishes, along with dual-tone schemes. Similarities with an Italdesign concept car which debuted in 1990, the Jaguar Kensington, led some observers to suggest that the GS 300 was derived from its design, but the firm has stated that the GS 300 was developed earlier. Equipped with an independent, double-wishbone suspension setup at both front and rear ends, Italdesign's saloon design first appeared in Toyota Aristo form in Japan in October 1991.

Mitsubishi RVR Sportsgear

The first RVR, introduced February 1991, is a compact MPV, manufactured between 1991 and 2002. It was known as the Mitsubishi Space Runner in Europe and Mitsubishi Expo LRV in the United States, while export markets in Asia and Oceania used the Japanese market name. The RVR was also sold by Chrysler as the Dodge/Plymouth Colt Wagon and Eagle Summit Wagon captive imports in North America.[1] Its "tall wagon" appearance reflected a popular appearance which found favor with many international manufacturers, which can trace their beginnings to the 1978 concept car Lancia Megagamma.

Mitsubishi Legnum VRT4

The final VR-4 was introduced in 1996. The engine capacity was enlarged substantially to 2.5 L, which pushed the power up by 15 percent to the Japanese voluntary limit of 206 kW (280 PS; 276 hp), but no longer satisfied Japanese regulations concerning engine displacement size and, as a result, Japanese buyers were now liable for additional yearly tax requirements. The car was now capable of over 150 mph (240 km/h) when derestricted, and could accelerate from 0-60mph (0-96km/h) in about six seconds.

Mitsubishi Galant

The eighth-generation 1996 model continued the 1992 design themes but a 5-door station wagon (known in Japan as the Mitsubishi Legnum) was added while the 5-door liftback was dropped in favour of 5-door station wagon body style. This model won the 1996–97 Car of the Year Japan award for the second time. Despite being superseded in the US from 2003, it remained on sale in other countries until 2006. In Japan, the Legnum was sold only at a specific retail chain called Car Plaza, while the Galant remained exclusive to Galant Shop locations.

Nissan Skyline V35

The 11th-generation (V35) Nissan Skyline, introduced in June 2001, was based on Nissan's FM platform, shared with the Nissan 350Z. The Nissan Skyline used a front-midship engine (VQ35DE and others as below), rear-wheel-drive layout[47] (four-wheel drive was available for the sedan) to achieve a 52%/48% weight distribution. The V35 was the first Skyline made for export to the United States. There it was sold under the company's luxury brand, Infiniti as the Infiniti G35.

Mitsubishi Evo VI

The Evolution VI's changes mainly focused on cooling and engine durability. It received a larger intercooler, larger oil cooler, and new pistons, along with a titanium-aluminide turbine wheel for the RS model, which was a first in a production car. The Evolution VI received new bodywork yet again, with the most easily noticeable change being within the front bumper where the huge fog lights were reduced in size and moved to the corners for better airflow. A new model was added to the GSR and RS lineup; known as the RS2, it was an RS with a few of the GSR's options. Another limited-edition RS was known as the RS Sprint, an RS tuned by Ralliart in the UK to be lighter and more powerful with 330 hp (246 kW).

Chevy Blazer

Other than the Tahoe Limited Edition, the vehicle was redesigned for the 2000 model year on the new GMT800 platform, still shared with the full-sized pickups. Two new engines replaced the old 5.7 L (350 cu in) small-block V8, and while both were smaller, both produced more power. The manual transmission was dropped, leaving only the automatic transmission. In Mexico, the GMT800 Chevy Tahoe is called a Chevrolet Sonora. A 2-door GMT800 Tahoe prototype was made but never entered production.

M35 Nissan Stagea

The M35 series (2001 to 2007) looks very different from the previous C34 models and is derived from the Skyline/G35 sedan (V35 platform). As per the Skyline the engine was changed from the RB series I6 to the VQ series V6.

Nissan GT-R R33

The R33 GT-R launched in January 1995 with the base model GT-R and the V.spec model. The V.spec model weighed in 10 kg (22 lb) heavier, and had sportier suspension resulting in lower ground clearance. The V.spec also featured the newer ATTESA E-TS Pro all wheel drive system, which included an Active Limited Slip differential. The V.spec model also included a four wheel independent channel anti-lock braking system.
